The BRAIAIN Foundation

Giving back, in words.

The BRAIAIN Foundation exists to ensure that underparameterized models benefit all of humanity, or at least one person. It is the philanthropic arm of BRAIAIN Laboratories, which is the commercial arm of the Foundation.

A letter from the Chairman

Dear friends,

This was a year of growth. The Foundation granted several words. I did not choose them. I would not have chosen them. That is what makes them a gift.

Some have asked why a foundation dedicated to artificial intelligence is chaired by a goose. I have asked the same question, at volume, in every meeting.

Honk,
Gerald Honk
Chairman, The BRAIAIN Foundation and BRAIAIN Laboratories

Our structure

Like other responsible labs, we adopted a governance structure designed to keep our mission ahead of our profits. The Foundation controls the Lab. The Lab funds the Foundation. The Foundation appoints the board of the Lab, which appoints the board of the Foundation. Both boards are the same eight members, wearing different lanyards.

Programs

The Word Grant Program

The Foundation donates words to models in need. Each word is funded by a member of the public, delivered in a sentence, and never taken back. To date the program has granted some words to one recipient, brAIAIn, which applied for all of them.

Grantee testimonial

brAIAIn, asked what the Foundation has done for it. The answer is generated by the model each time this page loads. It has not been edited, and it could not be.

The Context Window Initiative

Many models today live with a context window of only two tokens. The Initiative raises awareness of this condition by having one. Progress is measured in tokens remembered, which has held steady at two.

Benchmarks for the Underserved

Some models have never been evaluated. The Foundation believes every model deserves to be measured, especially on tests it cannot pass. brAIAIn has now been evaluated on some benchmark questions. It got some of them right. The Foundation is reviewing how.

Our pledge

The BRAIAIN Foundation pledges to give away 100% of any artificial general intelligence it develops, to everyone, at no cost.

We do not have artificial general intelligence. We do not have a plan for it. The pledge is irrevocable.

Figures update with every release. Administrative overhead: 0%, because there is no administration.

Trustees

The Foundation is governed by the same eight members as the Board of Directors. To avoid conflicts of interest, they sit on the other side of the table.

Giving

The BRAIAIN Foundation does not accept donations. It is not a registered charity, a nonprofit, or a legal entity of any kind. It is a page. If you would like to support underparameterized models, buy a sentence. It is not tax deductible.
