Training
Every version of brAIAIn is retrained from scratch on every run of a scheduled job, about every ten minutes, on a computer we do not own. The last run's training time appears here after the next run.
Inference
When you ask brAIAIn a question in the chat on this site, the answer is computed on your own phone or laptop. No server is involved. This page just asked the model a question to measure it, and it took -. The question was "What is the meaning of life?" The answer was ...
Carbon
We could turn the seconds above into grams of carbon dioxide by multiplying them by a number we found online. That is the industry method. We did not, because we would have had to make the number up, and we have a rule about that.
What we can say: the training job is a few seconds of someone else's computer, and inference is a fraction of a second of yours.
Water
Large data centers use water for cooling. We have no data center, so we have measured no water. The Chairman of the Board, a goose, drinks from a pond. This is not included in our figures, and the board has declined to be metered.
Net zero
BRAIAIN Laboratories reached net zero GPUs at founding, and has maintained it every quarter since. We also report net zero outside capital, net zero employees and net zero compute commitments through 2030. See our S-1.
Offsets
We buy no carbon offsets. We have nothing we can measure to offset, and we would rather not pay for a tree that was going to grow anyway.
Supply chain
Our training data is ethically sourced. Every customer sentence was written and paid for by the person who wrote it, with their permission, on purpose. The rest was written by the lab, or by the model itself. Nothing was scraped. All of it is public.
